Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Canes and Panthers- lend us your ears! You may already have the ball rolling with classes, however it's not too late to add some finishing touches to your dorm rooms, apartments and rental homes. After the jump, we've rounded up several one-stop and almost one-stop shops where you can go in with a budget and come out with a colorful array of throws, dinner ware, portable bathroom essentials and more for your new dorm.

We kept the selections as close to the University of Miami and Florida International University as possible, so you can squeeze your dorm room shopping in between classes and weekend engagements. We also chose stores that were as budget-friendly as possible, because who doesn't want a little extra cash for when you hit The Rat and Chili's? ? Let us know what you think in the comments, and feel free to let us in on any hot dorm room shopping spots you've found throughout your studies.

Target BirdĀ Road

When every cute little lamp, compact accent chair and funky shower curtain has been bought from Target at Dadeland Station, consider venturing out fifteen minutes to Target on Bird Road. Or, just come here to stock up on kitchen supplies, home accents and space savers without the huge influx of freshmen and their parents.

WestĀ Elm

Lucky ducks! Students and teachers get 15 percent off their purchases at West Elm. It's pricier than most places you'll shop for dorm goods, but if you're looking for unique bedsheets, rugs, home accents and bathroom goods that will make your new friends go "Woah!" then this is your spot. There's also a location in Midtown in case the duvet you had your eyes on is sold out here.
Fun, modern, space-saving. That's the name of the game at CB2, Crate & Barrel's lesser priced sister brand. Sure, it's a bit of a drive down to South Beach from FIU or UM, but think of how unique your inner dwellings will look as you binge out on Netflix shows all day.

IKEAĀ Miami

Kitchen supplies, pull-out sofas, live plants and lunch. What can't you get at IKEA? Recently opened next to Dolphin Mall, the swarms are going to be massive. Either go early during the week or prepare to battle thousands of folks vying for that last set of cheap (but perfect!) wine glasses. Otherwise, make a day trip out of it and head to IKEA Sunrise.

HomeGoods

Where else can you find Ralph Lauren sheets at half off? Tucked deep inside a shopping center near Dadeland Mall, all the designer home accents and essentials you'll find here are deeply discounted, so you'll definitely leave here "HomeGoods Happy."

The ContainerĀ Store
