Cool Girl in the Gables: A Perfect Saturday on Ponce with Jana Rose Carrero

Welcome to Perfect Saturday, a Racked feature where we ask our favorite Miamians to outline their favorite places to shop and spend the afternoon in a certain neighborhood.

Jana Rose Carrero has her Saturday mornings booked. You'll find her strolling through Downtown Coral Gables, popping into coffee shops on Miracle Mile for a morning pick-me-up and sourcing out the area's best beauty spots and boutiques before ducking into Prestigious Image Barber Shop, where she'll wait for her boyfriend, Gil, to get his fresh weekly cut. If you follow her blog, OJ and Cigs, you'll know that this girl means business when it comes to personal style and location scouting– each of her edgy outfits seems to go perfectly with the setting, whether it's an Upper Eastside motel or a graffiti-adorned dumpster, and you can expect this social media pro to be dressed to impressed when Saturday AM rolls around.

We tagged along with Jana one Saturday morning to scope out her favorite Coral Gables hangouts, from an ice cream-serving juice bar to her favorite organic nail salon.

Prestigious Image Barbershop and Spa: 2518 Ponce de Leon Blvd.

First up, we meet with Jana at her usual Saturday spot, Prestigious Image Barbershop and Spa, where we find her and her boo, Gil, talking Adidas and cracking jokes with the staff. "Every Saturday Gil and I head to the barber shop since he has a membership there," she says. "It gives him unlimited haircuts for a reasonable monthly fee. The spot is 'girlfriend-friendly.' There's a terrific staff, it's super clean, it plays cool music, and there's a variety of refreshments. It even has a charging station for while you hang out and wait!"

Jugofresh Coral Gables: 2516 Ponce de Leon Blvd.

Before we head anywhere else we pop into Jugofresh for a snack. "I LOVE that they just opened a spot next door to the barber shop so that I can get my fix of their new refreshing 'soft-serve,'" she admits.

Cavalier: 2710 Ponce De Leon Blvd.

Now that she's juiced up, it's time for some shopping! We pop into Cavalier, a laid-back shop on Ponce that sells street style bait and also cracked into our Indie 38 this summer. "I recently stumbled across Cavalier and wish I had sooner," admits Jana. "The shop carries lust-worthy brands like Zimmermann, Elizabeth & James and A.L.C.– perfect for getting your shopping cardio on."

Jana found this UH-MAZING faintly blue A.L.C. dress with tiny buttons along the front ($465), but we're not gonna lie: slimming down the options at this store was tough. It's so dreamy.

Before stepping out, we took a quick minute to admire Jana's manicure by Vanity Projects, which was inspired by one of her favorite street artists, Bicicleta Sem Freio. But every lovely manicure needs a pedicure, so we're off to our next stop.

Gloss Nail Bar: 214 Andalusia Ave.

"While chilling at the girlfriend-friendly barber shop is fun, i like knowing that I can walk down the block to get my nails done at Gloss while Gil is getting his haircut," says Jana. We popped into Gloss Nail Bar, Miami's only organic nail salon, for a fresh coat of paint on her toes. "Their polish is natural and surprisingly super long-lasting. I'm digging soft, neutral color palette on my nails right now."

Swine Southern Table & Bar: 2415 Ponce De Leon Blvd.

Fresh cut? Check! Fresh pedi? Check, Check! Now that everyone's looking top shape, it's time for brunch. Every Saturday Gil and Jana head across the street from Prestige to Swine Southern Table and Bar. "Swine is possibly one of my fave brunches in town," says Jana. "The bottomless mimosa and bloody Mary deal is great, and dishes like pulled pork and eggs as well as the Swine burger (which is, by the way, the best burger EVER) are packed with flavor." Sounds like their whole Saturday was too.
