Shipping-On-Demand App Shyp Is Offering Free Goodwill Pickups This Month

Shyp

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

By "spring cleaning," did you mean tossing unwanted shoes, tops, and home goods into your garage with the intention of donating them, but never actually looking at them again? We know, we know– things get busy, but now Shyp has made it mad easy to donate all your goods to Goodwill for free. You won't even have to leave your house!

Through August 6th, Shyp will pick up your gently used clothing and housewares and donate them to Goodwill. Simply update the app to the latest version, tap 'Add Shipment,' select Goodwill as your recipient, and snap a photo of your donations. Shyp will come and pick it up for you, on the house. Couriers can take up to two 13-gallon bags per pickup, and you can request as many as you'd like!

So what can you donate? Gently used clothing, sporting goods, personal items, toys, and housewares are good suggestions. What can't you donate? Anything dusty and dirty, furniture and large appliances, and fragile items like glass. Plus, if you tell your friends about the deal, you'll score a $30 shipping credit.
