"Welcome to Tippie Toes Nail and Beauty Salon where Miami's fashionistas come for one-of-a-kind pop-culture nail designs," states the promo sentence for Oxygen's soon-to-premier docu-series, "Boss Nails", about a West Little River nail salon owned by Dana Cody, the 26-year-old stepmother to Aviva Drescher from Real Housewives of New York.
The show will follow Cody as she runs her nail salon in Miami. Oxygen claims she's best known for her $10,000 crystal embellished manicures, which sounded a little strange considering the salon borders Liberty City, an area that isn't exactly known for its luxury beauty services. When we called Tippie Toes, the receptionist had no idea what we were talking about, but did tell us that the salon's signature service, "Treasure Nails," starts at $15 a nail. There's a Groupon deal in case you want to check it out.
The show will also dive into her personal life where she's married to George Teichner, Aviva's 76-year-old father. In fact, the two met at her Miami salon (she owns another in Los Angeles). In an interview with Bravo, Cody states that Teichner walked in for a mani and pedi, told Cody she needed a bit of practice, offered to invest in her business, and then asked her out to dinner after a business lunch date.
The show is currently in production, so Cody won't be taking any appointments until at least the end of the month. No word on the exact date of the show's premiere, but a rep did confirm it would be later this year.
Oh, and Bobby Flay is one of the show's executive producers, which is possibly the most head-scratching element of all.
