Tons of New Restaurants Have Opened Plus Diego Oka on La Mar's First Year

Everything you need to know about Miami's food scene from our friends at Eater Miami.

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

1) EVERYWHERE: ‘Season’ is in full swing here in South Florida and with that comes plenty of new restaurant openings. Last week saw Coya finally opening its gold-plated doors in Brickell, rustic Fooqs taking over the former NeMesis space and Ft. Lauderdale getting a brand new steakhouse — and that was just in a week. Get ready to get to eating.

2) BRICKELL: La Mar, the chic high-end Peruvian concept inside the Mandarin Oriental, is turning one. Eater Miami spoke to its popular chef Diego Oka about the restaurant’s first year, the challenges he faced and the camaraderie amongst chefs in South Florida. Find it this way.

3) MIMO: One of Miami’s original pop up concepts Phuc Yea is finally ‘popping up’ for good. The restaurant, owned and operated by the same people behind The Federal, announced it would be setting up shop permanently on Biscayne later this year. Read all about it over here.
