Four Last Minute New Year's Eve Outfits (and Where to Wear Them)

Driely S. for Racked

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

Call us superstitious, but we're big believers in the idea that if you ring in the new year looking good, you're bound to have a great 365 days ahead. Since we're not ones to play with the fates, we're sticking with that and dressing for four very separate occasions, all fabulous in their own rights and teaming with celebs.

Drake at E11even, Kygo and The Weeknd at the Fountainbleau, Pitbull and the entire city of Miami (not to mention everyone who's tuned into Fox on New Year's Eve)– those are a few of this year's biggest events. Plus, Cuba's legendary Tropicana nightclub is popping up for one night only at El Tucán, which is bound to be a glamorously good time. We've put together four outfits to wear to each with items from some of our favorite Miami boutiques, so browse through and start planning your first outfit of 2016!

Tropicana de Cuba at El Tucán

El Tucan New Year's Eve

Rafe Azura Asymmetrical mother of pearl clutch, Koko & Palenki, $795; Cadey Lee metallic sandal, Koko & Palenki, $179; Nicholas bandage crossband halter dress, Cavalier, $653; Spiked earrings, Frankie Miami, $115

El Tucan is ringing in the new year by bringing a feathered and dazzled blast from the past. For one night only Cuba's legendary El Tropicana nightclub is popping up inside Brickell's newest (and only) cabaret. It's going to be the ultimate Havana night, with music by Grammy Award-Winning Marlow Rosado & The Tucán Band, showgirls, plenty of champagne, and a surprise DJ carrying on the party through 3am. This will mark thefirst performance of the Tropicana dancers in the United States after 32 long years, so dress to impress in something bright, tropical, shapely, and feminine. El Tucan, 1111 SW 1st Ave., Miami, FL; Doors open at 8pm, Tickets are $90 for general admission and $450 for a seated dinner. Purchase them here.

Drake at E11even

New Year's Eve Look 2

Pajaro limon triangle earrings, Boho Hunter, $166; Blazer 11 camel boots, Chiffino, $39; Vera set, Touch Dolls, $33; Miansai 'Vida Fete Titan' bracelet, Intermix, $240

If you're looking to usher in the new year with a little "Hotline Bling," you might as well do it with the man who invented the term (and who's also responsible for everyone dancing like a dad this year). Drake will be performing at E11even this Thursday, which gives you the perfect opportunity to don those lace up working boots you've been dying to wear. And since no one goes to the club in a sweater, sex up his video-inspired look with a monochrome crop top set in grey or pastel, plus some actual bling to spice it up. E11even, 29 NE 11th St., Miami, FL; Doors open at 9pm; Tickets start at $450. Purchase them here.

The Weeknd and Kygo Fountainebleau Poolside

Untitled #4

Tibi double faced satin bomber jacket, En Avance, $550; Colette bralet, Eberjay, $49;MSGM high-waisted trousers, En Avance, $495; Merritt triangle drop earrings, Francescas, $12; Misto black pumps, Erge, $39.90

So you, too, can't get enough of Kygo and The Weeknd? Two of this year's hottest artists unite to bring you one epic poolside affair with a premium open bar until the clock strikes 12. It's your one chance to channel your inner Weeknd, so whip out a fresh bomber jacket and drape it over your shoulders, don a bralet with a set of high-waisted trousers and call it a night. The minimalist trend isn't going anywhere this year, so ring in 2016 with a little bit of outfit simplicity. Fontainebleau Miami Beach, 4441 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach,FL; Doors open at 9pm; Tickets are $325 to $50,000 with a premium open bar through 12am. Purchase them here.

Pitbull at Bayfront Park

New Year's Eve Look 3

Felina Angle ring, Boho Hunter, $300; Alexander McQueen 'De Manta' rose print clutch, The Webster, $575;Alexis 'Kia' romper, Jessie Boutique, $326; Miansai fish hook necklace, The Webster, $421; See by Chloe 'Liana' platform, Koko & Palenki, $305

Is there any better way to ring in 2016 than with Mr. 305 himself? This year, Florida's grand ambassador is ringing in the new year by hosting a two-day rager for the Norwegian Worldwide Food & Wine Party, which will all be televised on Fox. The event, which takes place on December 30th and 31st, features plenty of bites and wines from several eateries. Pit will be performing on the 31st, and the countdown is free and open to the public. While generally we'd encourage you to step out in your best 4-inch heels every December 31st, since this concert is taking place at Bayfront Park, you'll probably be stepping in grass at some point. Opt for a glitzy pair of flatforms, a minimal romper, a spritz of Pitbull Miami Woman, and get ready to dance the night away. Bayfront Park, 301 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, FL; Wednesday and Thursday, December 30 and 31; General-admission tickets for both days are $99 while VIP tickets are $500. Doors open to the public at 6:30pm on December 31st. Purchase your tickets here.
