How to Conquer Miami's Malls on the Day After Christmas

Hours, parking tips, and other things you should probably know.

Aventura Mall

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

We know where you'll be on Saturday: at the mall with the rest of us looking to blow that holiday dough. The topic will come up at least four times throughout Noche Buena banter and Christmas day chit chat. "What time do the stores open?" Tía Elena will ask. "There will be nowhere to park!" explains aunt Ruth.

To this you will respond, "Tía Elena, Sawgrass opens at 7am," or "Aunt Ruth, you can now use Dadeland's parking app to call your car 20 minutes in advance." Thanks to our handy day after Christmas shopping guide (and our sales roundup, soon to come), there's no stopping you from being the Sugarplum Fairy of post holiday deals.

Aventura Mall

Hours: 7am to 10pm.

Parking: Finding parking at Aventura is easy– you just have to know where to look. Beeline to the tops of the Bloomingdale's or JCPenney/Nordstrom garage. If you happen to have a MasterCard, there are valet stations at the Aventura Mall entrances of The Piazza, Grand Lux, The Cheese Course, Nordstrom, and on the fifth level of the Bloomingdale's parking garage. It's complimentary if you're a MasterCard Black member, or if you just spend $500 at the mall, which should be pretty easy.

Good to know: Shopped till you dropped? You can store your packages at the MasterCard concierge desk right in front of Macy's, or just have them delivered straight to your door at home. Unfortunately, Santa's left the building, but you can still admire all the picturesque Christmas decorations, and snap few selfies at the reindeer topiary station to prove you were there.

Dadeland Mall

Hours: 7am to 10pm.

Parking: Finding parking at Dadeland requires a few loops around the lot, but the mall's new Valet on Demand feature lets you call ahead to get your car in 20 minutes! The station is located at the new wing of the mall.

Good to know: Did you know Dadeland has an app? The Simon app brings the ultimate mall directory right into your hands, complete with a map and deals of the day.

Dolphin Mall

Hours: 9am to 10pm.

Parking: Dolphin Mall just made parking ten times easier by adding a 900-space parking garage with a system that guides you to the best parking spot and lets you locate your vehicle through an onsite kiosk. The mall also added 360 spots near Forever21 and HomeGoods last year, so that should take the pressure off a bit.

Good to know: While the holiday magic may fizzle at other malls, you can enjoy Dolphin's Magical Snowfall through January 3rd. Picture yourself walking out of the mall around 7pm with dozens of little lights falling around you and plenty of shopping bags in tow. It's a vision out of a shopper's fairytale book. Make sure to stay after for live jazz from 8 to 12pm at the Ramblas Plaza.

The Falls

Hours: 8am to 9pm.

Parking: Parking isn't that bad at The Falls (considering you go early), but if you want to avoid the fuss then you can valet your car for $5 by the Corner Bakery Cafe. This gets you a $5 voucher to use at several of The Falls' restaurants, from P.F. Changs to Brio Tuscan Grill, with a purchase of $15 or more.

Good to know: The Falls also benefits from the Simon mall app, so you can stay up to date with deals and always know where you are at this relaxing outdoor mall. If you really want to save, pass by the guest services desk by the movie theater and pick up a Style Pass coupon book.

Shops at Merrick Park

Hours: 9am to 9pm.

Parking: The only caveat to shopping at Merrick Park is that parking isn't free. The good thing is that parking will never cost you more than $10, considering you don't leave your car parked overnight. If you know where you're going, the mall's website has a handy feature that tells you where to park according to the store you're visiting. There are valet stations in front of the main garden between Crave and Yard House, at the north entrance to Neiman Marcus, and at the north entrance to Nordstrom.

Good to know: Now that we've gotten well acquainted with Merrick's brand new name, we can focus on the more important things, like scoring deals. The mall's parent company, GGP, also has an app. It can tell you how far you are from the mall, lets you mark exactly where you parked your car, gives you easy access to Merrick Park's directory, and even filters sales for you. Yep, we just downloaded it too.

Miami International Mall

Hours: 7am to 10pm.

Parking: Unfortunately there are no valet stations to alleviate the parking here, so just get there early (or with a whole lot of luck).

Good to know: Miami International Mall, too, benefits from the Simon App, so download for your very own handheld mall directory and deal feed.

Sawgrass Mills

Hours: 8am to 9:30pm.

Parking: You probably will circle the mall 1,549 times just to find a parking spot, but don't worry about it too much. Sawgrass Mills is so big it has a bus that takes you around the mall's perimeter for free. Pick it up at seven of the mall's main entrances.

Good to know: Six brand new luxury outlets just opened at Sawgrass, so now might be the perfect time to visit. Sawgrass just introduced a Shop N Drop option, which lets you safely check in your bags and pick them up later, or ship them back to your place or even the airport. Because this is the largest outlet mall in America, the Simon app definitely comes in handy here.
