Balmain X H&M: How and Where to Shop It in Miami

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

You've been anticipating the Balmain X H&M drop since Kendall Jenner wore that pearl-studded blazer to the Billboard awards. Or maybe it was that long sleeve mini Gigi Hadid wore to the Harper's Bazaar Icons party? Either way, it's almost time to shop the collab, which launches this Thursday, November 5th!

To make sure you're ready, we've prepped a handy guide that contains everything you need to know—which stores to shop in Miami, what time to get there, and how quickly you can return if you experience buyer's remorse. On the off chance you don't have ninja-like powers like Kendall Jenner, you're going to need this guide, so read on to prepare your #HMBalmaination strategy.

Where to Shop It

The only three stores in South Florida carrying the collection are H&M in Aventura Mall, H&M on Lincoln Road, and H&M at Palm Beach Gardens. From our experience at last year's H&M X Alexander Wang drop, Lincoln Road had the broadest selection, but by the time 5pm hit, Aventura had the most merchandise left.

When to Go

H&M's doors open at 8am, but people will begin to line up way before then. At the Wang launch last year, some had begun lining up as early as 8pm the night before, so play it safe and get there early.

How to Shop

H&M will be applying its bracelet system again. The first 420 people in line will be given a colored bracelet and placed into groups of 30. When it's time for your group to go inyou'll have 15 minutes to shop the entire collection before you're ushered out to make room for the next group. Last year they restocked after every group, so here's to hoping they do that again. After the last group shops, they'll open the collection for everyone to shop.

What to Buy

There are over 100 items to shop in the collection for both men and women making it one of the largest yet. If you weren't able to catch the fashion show which culminated with an epic Backstreet Boys reunion, then here's a super detailed look at the collection in all its glory. Or, you can peruse each individual item with prices here.

Besides being one of the largest, it's also one of the most expensive. It's also one of the first time H&M has used hand beading in its production process, so there's something to be said for that. Expect beaded dresses and blazers that range from $199 to $649 (Hadid's black and white mini is the most expensive piece), belts from $59 to $199, jewelry from $17 to $99, and Balmain tees for $34.

How Much You Can Buy– and When You Can Return It

As per H&M's website, you're allowed to buy two items per product in the store, and one item per product online. If you don't like how something fits (because you won't have time to try anything on in there) or you just have a little buyer's remorse, you can return or exchange items until November 8th with a receipt and receive compensation in the original form of payment. After November 8th, you'll only be able to receive a store credit.

Insider's Tips

It doesn't hurt to get there as early as possible, and make sure you know exactly what you're looking for. If you couldn't make all your purchases in your 15 minute time slot you can go back inside, however you'll have to get back in line in order to reenter. Also, take into account that you probably won't have any time to try anything on, so shopping this collab requires a lot of eyeballing.
