Suburbia. That's what you think of when anything west or north of 826 comes to mind. But a new development in Sunrise is adding a little spice to the overabundance of generic strip malls you'll find there, and some of your favorite stores have already signed on.

Metropica, a $1 billion mixed-use project which will feature apartments, stores, and office space, is under construction in Sunrise in Broward, in a space that borders Sawgrass Mills and The Everglades. Its 27-story, super ritzy, Steven Stark-designed condominium tower, Yoo, broke ground yesterday, and already 50 percent of them have been sold, reports the Wall Street Journal.

But let's talk about what's really important here: the stores! The developer of the project, Joseph Kavana, has signed leases with retail tenants, and the first two on board are Anthropologie and Free People. Yep, that's right. Cue the trumpets! Throw the streamers! But wait... there's more.

Shake Shack will be rolling in, as will an IPIC movie theater, Kings Bowl, a True Food Kitchen and Salsa Fiesta. Retail development will begin in the first quarter of 2016, so hold tight until then.
