Sunset Place May Undergo Major Renovations

Sunset Place has been sold for $110 million, Miami Herald reports, to the same company that purchased it also purchased CocoWalk in Coconut Grove back in May.

According to the Herald, the new owners might be renovating and redeveloping the mall too. As Dawn Becker, executive vice president at Federal Realty stated, "The mall was designed so that it has its back to the community in some ways. We want it to fit in a little bit better so it doesn't feel like such a fortress."

So does this mean we'll get a few outward facing shops? We're not sure, but that would be a great way to blend the massive mall and entertainment complex with the boutique-booming Sunset Drive. The article does state that more restaurants and cafes might be in the mix, and that empty retail spaces will be filled with pop-up shops, a tactic they're trying at CocoWalk.
