Big news for Saks Fifth Avenue! After almost 30 years, the luxury department store is packing up and moving... to another part of the mall. The new and improved Saks will anchor the $400 million expanded wing of the mall, which will add 400,000 square feet, a Barney's, and a bougainvillea-lined, pedestrian friendly plaza.
"Bal Harbour has been a key market for Saks Fifth Avenue and we are thrilled about our relocation to the new space," commented Marc Metrick, President of Saks Fifth Avenue. "This enhanced store will allow us to provide customers with an unmatched, must-shop destination for fashion come 2019."
Expected to open in the fall of 2019, this new Saks will contain three levels of women's ready-to-wear, men's, jewelry, shoes, and handbags over 108,000 square feet, and apparently it's been in the works for almost a decade now. There's no concrete word on what will happen to the current Saks Fifth Avenue location, whether it will be taken over by a new department store or it will be divided into a series of stores.
It's going to be a long wait, but luckily we have Saks Fifth Avenue at Brickell City Centre to bite on, which should be opening soon.
