Will J.C. Penney be Closing in Florida?

J.C. Penney will be closing 39 stores around April 4, and fortunately none are located in Florida. The news came in yesterday, and rest assured that there will be no surprise closings throughout 2015. So continue to shop at J.C. Penney at Aventura, Dadeland, Westland and Miami International Malls.

WWD pointed out yesterday that "ironically, as U.S. retailers are looking at which stores to shed, Spain's Inditex is planning to open more than a dozen new Zara stores across the U.S." Just look at the recent closures of Delia's, Wetseal, and, prior to that, Sears's store count shrink. It's a sad pattern for American retailers, but it wouldn't hurt to have another Zara store around these parts...
