Miracle Mile (a.k.a. "Wedding Row") is getting quite the makeover, as is Giralda Avenue, which runs parallel to the strip and is teeming with good eats, bars, stores and salons. Miami Today reports that "the streets will feature improved lighting, tree grates, benches, kiosks, better signage for businesses and parking garages, more welcoming connections to garages and alleyways and permanent valet stations." Certain blocks down Giralda may even be "pedestrian only."
The one drawback of raising $18.8 million for a project that could improve your shopping experience? Higher parking rates. Curbed Miami reports that parking rates, which are $1 to $3 an hour via garages and $1.25 via meters currently, could rise by $0.50, although Miami Today reports that we may be getting another much needed parking garage in the area. No word on when construction will begin, however it should last about 18 months and will not roll out all at once.
