Recalling a Miami White Elephant; Jeanne Gang's Miami Tower

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

1)Allapattah: For decades the summer training home of the Baltimore Orioles, the Miami Stadium was a notorious 'white elephant' towards the end of its life. Do check out this documentary on its rise and fall and on why maybe we shouldn't take white elephants for granted so quickly.

2) Design District: Starchitect Jeanne Gang is designing a condo tower for Miami's Design District, with 76 units and 20,000 square feet of ground floor retail. Here it is.

3) Coconut Grove: This charming "Classical French Manor" has hit the market for $5.9 million. While it may only be vaguely french, it certainly is charming, and (oh my) comes with "lounging rooms."
