There was Lupita Nyong'o in that perfect Prada and Jennifer Lawrence in Dior, but we'd like to give our standing ovation and best dressed award to Miami's own Sidney Poitier. Born in Coconut Grove and now 87, Poitier looked sharp as hell in Giorgio Armani with Angelina Jolie on his arm.

It was a particularly poignant night for Poitier to return to The Oscars. The first black man to win the Best Actor Oscar, Poitier was able to watch fifty-one years later as Steve McQueen accepted the Best Picture award. It was the first time the Oscar of all Oscars went to a film by a black director.—Patricia Guarch Wise
