Another South Florida furniture store is down for the count, as Carls Furniture shuts its three remaining South Florida locations in Coconut Creek, Pompano Beach and Fort Lauderdale. In its heyday, Carls had 22 locations across the country, but the recession hit hard and so it's joining Modernage, Dream House and other now-defunct furniture stores in the graveyard of home stores that were. The good news is that Carls Patio will remain open with nine South Florida locations.

Before the 73-year-old company's expiration date, they'll be having a private sale until Monday, March 17. Everything will be marked down 30 to 70 percent, but the only way to gain access is to bring in an exclusive letter that Carl's has mailed out to its very best clients and friends. In true Miami fashion, however, you can gain access if you know a guy. No comment was made as to when the company will close down to the public for good, according to the Miami Herald.
