And just when you thought it was impossible to outshine Sawgrass Mills, another much needed outlet mall comes sweeping into South Florida. This past weekend Palm Beach Outlets celebrated its grand opening, seeing a crowd of over 60,000 sale-hungry shoppers on Friday and Saturday and 40,000 on Sunday.
A rep for Palm Beach Outlets revealed that OFF 5TH and Nike were the most popular stores on the block over the weekend, but don't worry folks; shoppers didn't wipe the stores clean of BOGOs and half-offs. There are currently over 100 outlet stores including Kenneth Cole, Ann Taylor, Nine West, Cole Haan, DKNY, Calvin Klein, Crabtree and Evelyn and J.Crew, all which will be having store specials in celebration of their opening.
A rep for Palm Beach Outlets tells us that the biggest complaint over the weekend was the lack of eateries, but they're working on fixing that with the addition of a B.J.'s Brewery, Red Robin, Starbucks, Auntie Anne's and Zona Fresca, all opening soon.
But this? This is only Phase 1! Phase 2 promises to bring a Nordstrom Rack, Whole Foods and some big box stores by October. As for Phase 3, which is still waiting to be reviewed by the city, you can expect to see some smaller stores, although it's too soon to say which ones.
But enough speculation about what's to come. There's an entire new outdoor outlet mall to explore! So count your pennies, cut those coupons and let's get to shoppin'.
