Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Theory/Helmut Lang opened last week, and it's everything we said it would be— minimalistic, chic, and a breath of fresh, white air. According to WWD, the store is "housed in a signature Art Deco building built in 1954," which the brand leased out from Metro 1. The 2,850-square-foot boutique houses Theory for both men and women, with a smaller section dedicated solely to Helmut Lang for both genders as well. You'll also find the brand's fragrances, which was recently reintroduced this year.
Tonight, though, Theory is getting some serious color. The brand has partnered with Christie's Auction House to outfit the store with Andy Warhol prints and paintings at an exclusive cocktail reception. Ten percent of the proceeds from the evening's sales will benefit the Andy Warhol Museum. The party will go from 5 to 7pm, and if you're interested, RSVP to theorymiamihl@christies.com.
