The Shelborne Hotel Reopens; The Rock Moves to SW Ranches

Photos by Sean McCaughan

Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.

1) South Beach: The Shelborne, long known as a rather wild party place, is wrapping up its $90 million renovation and has reopened as the Shelborne Wyndham Grand South Beach. Check out our photo tour, this way.

2) Southwest Ranches: He hasn't even finished moving in yet, and actor Dwayne "the Rock" Johnson, is already expanding his brand new $5.5 million house in Southwest Ranches, with an additional 5,000 square foot wing to contain a gym and guest house for his trainer.

3) South Beach: Here's an example of historic preservation gone blah: Lincoln Road's Van Dyke Building, formerly home of the much loved Van Dyke Cafe, has a new ground level facade that was supposed to be a recreation of the original. Let's just say, it sucks.
