Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
Welcome to the Racked Awards, our annual celebration of the best in local shopping and stye.
Not only can you find Giuseppe Zanotti, J Brand and Alexander McQueen gems inside of Atrium's swanky Collins Avenue walls, you'll also be able to find them for your other half as well. The store could stand on its own solely with its rolodex of designers, however it stands strongest because its rolodex is as strong for men as it is for women.
The store is open and spacious, the kind where you can zone out as you run your fingers through the racks, catching site of your boyfriend or girlfriend only when certain walls open up. And the range of items— Oh the range! You can literally find something for every occasion in there, whether you're a guy searching for some clean Commes Des Garcons tees with a pair of Giuseppe kicks to run daily errands, or you're a dame who just wants a matching 3.1 Phillip Lim short set with strappy McQueen heels for a night you most likely won't remember, save for that initial, fabulous Instagram shot.
But let's not forget this is South Beach, and swimwear is essential. The store boasts a huge beach shop-in-shop, where you can find anything from subdued board shorts by up-and-coming brands like Onia, to body-hugging bikinis from MIKOH. After all, Atrium's head buyer, Janet Wong, is the co-mastermind behind the Cabana trade show during Swim Week.
For Art Basel this year, expect them to go all out. They'll be collaborating with swimwear brand Orlebar Brown and beachy photographer Gray Malin on an exclusive product, not to mention epic storefront window displays for men and women of all ages to appreciate as they party hop. Although, if said men and women happen to be walking in front decked out in Atrium from head to toe, then they may just steal the spotlight from everything else on the block.
