Welcome to the Racked Awards, our annual celebration of the best in local shopping and stye.
When Laure Heriard Dubreuil decided to fill a lone, art deco boutique on South Beach with Balenciaga, Chanel, Celine and countless other names only fathomed by by most, she had no idea that years later The Webster would be cited as a driving force in luxury retail in Miami. To sum it up, every year has been a great one for The Webster since it opened in 2009, but this one in particular is a big one.
When we spoke to Laure in May, we asked how she managed to score so many amazing and exclusive collaborations, to which she responded in her bright-eyed, enthusiastic demeanor, "It all falls naturally." In just this past year alone, The Webster has collaborated with more than ten brands so far, from fun, high-end jewelry brand Alison Lou to the god of American simplicity, Calvin Klein. But the year's not over yet. Laure, who is also the brand ambassador for Eres, is currently working with Le Bon Marche, the famed Parisian department store, on an all white collection, calling upon her posse of designer friends to create limited edition pieces to be sold solely in Paris and at The Webster for Le Bon Marche's annual White Sale.
This year we also saw The Webster open its second location at Bal Harbour Shops, offering a beautifully curated selection of what could be found at the store's flagship for women. At the end of the month we'll witness the opening of The Webster's Menswear store right next door, and there's been talk in the past of the store expanding its radius to other cities across the globe.
From the moment you walk through The Webster's silver doors you feel a certain energy. Grab a cocktail at the bar, revel at a case of Chanel purses, inquire about the up-and-coming contemporary brands in the back and ascend up the staircase, where your heart will just drop as you run your fingers through Tom Ford, Jason Wu, Givenchy and Carven pieces. But that's just a sampler. Or half a sampler, really. With so many brands and exclusives hand selected by one of fashion's leading ladies, it's no wonder The Webster is the ultimate store to splurge at in 2014.
