Racked is no longer publishing. Thank you to everyone who read our work over the years. The archives will remain available here; for new stories, head over to Vox.com, where our staff is covering consumer culture for The Goods by Vox. You can also see what we’re up to by signing up here.
We're giving you a minute to process that headline right...
Ok, all clear.
Move over Tiger; we've got another champion on the green, and this one has nicer shoes. Carolina Herrera will be gracing the city of Doral with a fashion show for this year's Cadillac Championship golf tournament at the newly renovated Trump National Doral Miami, and Racked Miami is filling you in first.
The fashion show will be hosted by Ivanka Trump, which adds a whole new level of elegance to the spectacle. While it's not confirmed whether or not the designer herself will be there, you can be certain that you'll be getting an up-close glance at Carolina Herrera's Spring 2014 collection. The show will be held on March 7, the day designated as "Fashion Friday."
"We are thrilled to partner with Carolina Herrera for 'Fashion Friday,' as the brand of elegance, sophistication and modern glamour align perfectly with the new direction of the Cadillac Championship," said Cadillac Championship General Chairman Butch Buchholz. "The decision to be the showcase of our day of fashion programming is proof that this tournament is quickly transforming from 'just a golf tournament' into a must-attend social and entertainment event in South Florida."
If you do go, be sure to dress the part. On the agenda for "Fashion Friday" are "best dressed" Instagram contests, an appearance by the reigning Miss Universe, Gabriela Isler, and the chance to mingle with select castmembers from the Real Housewives series (please let it be Lisa Vanderpump)! The following day, Travie McCoy will take the stage and, if you're lucky, he may even drop some tracks from his upcoming album, set to be released in the summer.
The addition of a luxury fashion show and hit concert act are really going to put the Cadillac Championship on the map as far as social events go around town, if not the world, and it's definitely nice to see some spotlight shed, not on South Beach and Wynwood, but on the mainland. Tickets are currently going for around $50 per day (but as any true Miami event goes, VIP options are available at a pretty reasonable $165) and both the fashion show and concert are open to all ticket holders.
Concerts may come and go, but the chance to see a Carolina Herrera fashion show is one in a billion. So secure a ticket and go snag yourself a preppy new getup. It's time to play ball like the billionaires do.
