There's no need to risk being tormented and trampled whilst holiday shopping, and the Miami Springs/Airport Area Chamber of Commerce knows this. On Black Friday they launched their fourth annual "Hometown Holiday Shopping" campaign to encourage residents in the area to shop locally by awarding prizes to those who do.

Through December 22, you can pick up a special card at Johnny's Soda Fountain & Luncheonette, Miami Acupuncture Therapy, or the Sunoco on Royal Poinciana. When you shop at any location in the area, the merchant will sign the back of the card. Once you've made ten purchases, you can turn your card in to Johnny's and be entered to win one of 15 prizes, which include a golf membership, a one-year pool pass, stay-cations, manis and pedis and even a key lime pie (dibs). Best of all, you can enter the contest unlimitedly, so you can shop to your hearts content without ever having to step foot in a mall or face the uncertainty of an online purchase arriving on time. Looks like holiday miracles do happen after all.
