Like the city itself, the Miami shopping scene has undergone a lot of change in the past five-plus years. World class luxury brands have long been heavily represented here, but now you can pick your poison when it comes to the shopping environment.
Want luxury brands in a chic outdoor mall (koi ponds and everything)? Head north to the Bal Harbour Shops. If indoor is more your thing, check out the brand new Brickell City Center, which just opened this November. Miami's love affair with the co-mingling art and fashion worlds — on brilliant display this week for Art Basel Miami Beach — means plenty of artfully designed shops and storefronts, too. The Design District is (literally) a must-visit, with a mix of art installations, avant-garde fashion labels, jewelry brands, and design showrooms. Farther south, you'll find the indie boutiques of Wynwood, many as decked out in artist-commissioned graffiti as the neighborhood's famous Wynwood Walls.
Miami Beach is also home to a number of independent shops. There are gems like Alchemist nestled amongst the chains of Lincoln Road Mall, and iconic boutiques like the Webster, with its pastel Art Deco exterior, plus some of the best hotel shops we've ever seen along Collins Ave.
Inclusive of everything above and then some, this map covers a lot of ground. There's no way you could see (or shop) it all in a single trip, but that's part of the beauty of Miami: There's always an excuse to come back for more.
